What is Tag Insight?
Last updated on July 14, 2026
Tag Insight is a platform for documenting, deploying, and verifying your website tracking. It closes the gap between the tracking plan you wrote and the data that actually fires on your pages. It is not a cookie consent manager: it is the quality layer that sits on top of your analytics and ad-tech setup.
The problem it solves
Every analytics setup starts with a tracking plan: a list of events, properties, and tags that should fire on each page. Then reality drifts. Developers ship changes, tags break silently, and the spreadsheet holding the plan goes stale. When a stakeholder asks whether the data can be trusted, nobody can answer with confidence.
Tag Insight replaces that spreadsheet with a living system, then continuously checks your site against it, so you always know what should fire, what actually fires, and where the two disagree.
Pillar 1: A tracking plan that stays alive
The Tracking plan module is where you define and maintain your specification. If you are starting from an existing site, Detect tracking plan generates a Reverse Tracking Plan from what is already implemented, so you do not begin from a blank page. The DataLayer collector gathers real dataLayer activity, and the Library holds reusable definitions (events, properties, parameters, event types, JS function templates, solutions) that you can share across projects.
Pillar 2: Deployment through Google Tag Manager
The Google Tag Manager module connects your plan to your TMS. Solutions map your tags to known vendors such as GA4, Didomi, or Piano, and Version alerts keep you informed when your GTM container changes, so a surprise publish never goes unnoticed.
Pillar 3: Verification, not assumptions
This is where Tag Insight earns its keep. Audits run QA on your dataLayer and show an Overview, Error distribution, and a full results list, with schedules and a calendar for recurring checks. Audit my adtech captures the marketing and ad-tech pixel requests sent while browsing your site and validates them against solution definitions, giving you a Presence rate per solution. The Live Debugger lets you inspect the individual hits captured during an audit run. A companion Chrome extension brings QA DataLayer, Audit My Ad Tech, and Reverse Tracking Plan to any site, even without a TMS; you just need a Tag Insight account.
Who it is for
Analytics teams use it to keep one project documented and continuously audited. Agencies and freelance consultants use it to run audits for clients and reuse their Library definitions from one engagement to the next, with roles (admin, organisation, consultant) to manage access. Plans are sized by monthly hit volume (10k, 100k, or 1M hits) with one project per plan and unlimited audits; multi-project setups are covered by the Enterprise and reseller offer.
