Workspaces, projects and how Tag Insight is organized

A workspace is your organisation

The workspace is the top level of your Tag Insight account. It represents your organisation: your company or your agency. The workspace holds your team, your subscription and the shared Library of reusable definitions. Team members belong to the workspace and have one of three roles: admin, organisation or consultant.

A project is one site or app

A project lives inside a workspace and corresponds to a single website or app. Each project has its own Dashboard, Calendar, Tracking plan, audits and Project settings. The snippet you get from Install Tag Insight, placed just before the closing head tag of your pages, belongs to a specific project, so the data it captures always stays tied to that site or app.

What is created when you sign up

You do not have to build this structure by hand. Onboarding walks you through five steps: Create workspace, Source, Role, Subscription and Install Tag Insight. Once signup and payment are complete, your workspace and a first project are created automatically. From there you can install the snippet and start working right away.

Workspace settings vs Project settings

Both live in the left sidebar, and knowing which one to open saves time.

Workspace settings covers everything shared across your organisation. It contains Configuration, Team management and the Library. This is where you invite teammates, assign roles and manage reusable definitions such as events, properties, parameters, event types, JS function templates and solutions. Anything defined in the Library can be reused across all your projects.

Project settings only affects the current project, meaning the one site or app you are working on. As a rule of thumb: if a change should apply to your whole team or be shared between projects, go to Workspace settings. If it should apply to one site only, use Project settings.

How many projects can you have?

Each plan is based on hit volume (10k, 100k or 1M hits) and includes one project with unlimited audits. If you need to track several sites or apps under the same workspace, that is an Enterprise or reseller setup: contact us and we will size it with you.
